Position: Risk & Compliance Officer (RCO)

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Key Functions: MLRO, DPO, Compliance Lead

We are seeking to appoint a Risk & Compliance Officer (RCO) for our Irish entity — a critical senior-level control function reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This Dublin-based role is a key part of the leadership team and plays a central role in safeguarding the integrity of our regulatory and risk environment.

The ideal candidate would be a strong second-in-command looking to take the next step into a Head of Function role and achieve their first PCF appointment.

The RCO will assume primary responsibility for two Pre-Approved Controlled Functions (PCFs) as designated by the Central Bank of Ireland — specifically:

  • PCF-12 – Head of Compliance (with responsibility for the compliance function)

  • PCF-14 – Chief Risk Officer

The successful candidate will lead the ongoing development and enhancement of our compliance, risk, and oversight frameworks, ensuring that Fire (EU) operates in full alignment with all applicable Irish and EU regulatory requirements.

As the designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) and direct line manager for the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), the role holder will provide authoritative leadership on financial crime, data protection, and conduct risk. They will act as the organisation’s primary point of contact for all relevant Irish regulatory and enforcement bodies, including the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), and the Data Protection Commission (DPC).

The role entails:

  • Compliance – Responsible for identifying and implementing any required legislative or policy updates across all regulatory requirements.

  • Assurance – Carry out second line reviews within the business to ensure compliance with policies and report on findings to Management, Audit & Risk Committee (“ARC”) and the Board of Directors (“the Board”).

  • Regulatory Engagement – Point of contact with relevant regulators and ensure all regulatory reporting/STRs are submitted within the required timelines.

  • Legal – Review and update customer facing legal documents such as T&C’s, Privacy Statements etc.

  • Risk Management – Acting as the custodian of the Group’s Risk Register and leading the Risk & Control Team (“RCT”) in proactively assessing, mitigating and reporting on risk items.

  • Audits & Reviews – Responsible for organising regular external audits and internal reviews.

  • Governance and Advice – Produce accurate and timely management information and communicate to all internal stakeholders. Provide compliance guidance to internal stakeholders as required.

  • Training – Carry out training such as Data Protection and Compliance training for all staff, contractors and Directors.

What should you have?

  • At least 5 years’ experience

  • Educated to degree level, ideally with a LCOI or equivalent qualification.

  • Candidate pre-approval by Central Bank of Ireland is required.

  • Be a suitable ‘fit and proper’ individual to be approved as a PCF with the CBI (Approved Person).

  • An excellent understanding of our product and the passion to be part of a scaling team.

  • Capable of producing quality outputs with very strong attention to detail.

  • Have a deep working knowledge of the Irish and UK payments landscape.
